Lydia Asana, Ph.D. in Public Policy & Administration

Dr. Asana is a founding member of the Libertas Scholars leadership team. She holds a bachelor's degree in Biology, a master’s in nonprofit management, and a Ph.D. in public policy and administration. She is involved in global health education and outreach and has coordinated numerous global, multi-disciplinary, and cross-institutional events on global health. She also currently teaches global health courses to college honors students at the University of South Florida. She views learning as an integrative process of building and applying knowledge and appreciates the freedom to help students recognize God’s hand in all subject areas, particularly the sciences. She is committed to making science fun while helping students develop a strong foundation for future science courses by developing good habits for scientific processes. D. Asana and her family have been homeschooling for over fifteen years and enjoy traveling both nationally and internationally. Allie Cota, LCSW

Mrs. Cota has been tutoring at Libertas since its inception in 2019 and also serves on the Leadership Team. She earned Bachelor's degrees in Social Work and Radio/Television from the University of Central Florida, followed by a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University. Before homeschooling, she spent many years providing therapy to individuals and families in both the non-profit and private sectors. Since beginning her homeschooling journey, she has taught her four children and many other students in a classroom setting. She finds great joy in working alongside amazing students and families. At Libertas, she teaches U.S. History (High School and Middle School), Traditional Latin I & II, and Latin (First and Second Form – Memoria Press). Her favorite part of tutoring is seeing students’ faces light up when they grasp a concept and make meaningful connections. She and her husband, Anthony, have been married for 26 years and have homeschooled their four children for 17 years. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and working on DIY home projects. "Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you, I wait all the day long." Courtney Jones, M.A. in Reading Education
Young Scholars Adventures in Literature
Mrs. Jones holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Southern College in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education and a Master’s Degree from UCF in Reading Education. She has always had a love of teaching, especially teaching reading. Mrs. Jones loves to read herself, and she also loves to watch young people find a passion for reading. She believes this is truly the key to future success - being able to decode, comprehend, and interact with the written word. Lifelong readers are lifelong learners! Mrs. Jones developed a passion for homeschooling as she homeschooled her own children over the last 22 years, and counting! She is the proud mother of 5 kiddos and the lucky wife of Bo for 30 years. She has treasured the time and influence with her children afforded her by homeschooling. Mrs. Jones firmly believes that homeschooling has allowed her children the freedom to develop their God-given talents, academic and extracurricular, with time and opportunities that would not have been available to them in a traditional school setting. “I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

Marty Mann, M.S. in Fisheries Biology & Management
High School Honors Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physics
Mr. Mann earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Science in fisheries biology and management from the University of Florida. For the past 31 years, Mr. Mann's full-time job has been as a fisheries biologist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and he oversees the management of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Osceola County. Mr. Mann has been teaching high school science to homeschoolers for approximately 20 years. Mr. Mann has been married to Anna Marie Mann for 30 years and they have two children. Marty is a deacon at The Connection Church, in Kissimmee. In his spare time, Mr. Mann enjoys fishing and traveling to fish around the world. Mr. Mann loves college football and is a die-hard Gator fan. He also trains in martial arts with his son, Jackson. Both are 2nd degree black belts. Andrea Martin
Art
Andrea is originally from Orlando, Florida, but has also called Texas, Georgia, and Illinois home for over 10 years while serving as a kids pastor alongside her husband of more than 21 years. She has been homeschooling for over 14 years and has taught art for many years to students of all ages. In addition to art, she has taught literature and writing, led student council, and guided students in creating the school yearbook for several years. In 2018, Andrea co-founded Watermark, a local homeschool co-op, where she currently serves on the board. She has a passion for helping children discover their God-given creativity and express themselves through hands-on projects and meaningful learning experiences. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys crafting, crocheting, and spending time at the beach with her family. She and her husband have two wonderful children and a playful dog who keeps life interesting.

Uri Ngwa, B.S. in Biochemistry (University of Florida, Expected Dec. 2025)

Uri is a student at the University of Florida, where he's currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. As an alumnus of Libertas Scholars, he holds a deep connection to the institution, and is excited to give back to the community that was a major part of his academic journey. As a tutor, Uri's favorite thing is sharing in the joy of learning - there's nothing quite like witnessing the spark of understanding ignite in someone's eyes. With his dedication to both his students and his studies, Uri seeks to embody the spirit of both lifelong learning and sharing knowledge for the glory of God. Uri has extensive tutoring experience in the subjects of General Chemistry II and Math. He also serves as a lab technician in the Neitzel Research Laboratory in Gainesville, Florida. In his free time, Uri enjoys reading, working out, and critiquing TV shows.

Ivette Rodriguez, B.A. in Marketing

Mrs. Rodriguez brings a dynamic blend of scientific expertise, real-world industry experience, and artistic creativity to her teaching. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing, and before entering the education field, she spent many years in the pharmaceutical industry. Her professional background spans multiple therapeutic areas, including Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease states. She maintained up-to-date certifications in Anatomy, Biology, Pharmacology, and various disease states knowledge that now enhances her science instruction. This strong foundation in applied science and communication allows her to make complex topics both accessible and engaging for students. A dedicated homeschool parent, Mrs. Rodriguez draws on her multifaceted background to inspire curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking in her students. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Lenora Schexnayder, B.S. in Psychology

Mrs. Schexnayder received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Business from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She subsequently earned her Master of Social Work degree from Louisiana State University. Later, she obtained her Licensed Clinical Social Worker designation. She practiced social work for 10 years impacting the lives of juveniles in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. She left the social work practice to stay home with her boys and eventually homeschool them. She has a love for teaching middle school math. Additionally, she is also passionate about money management and freedom from debt, offering assistance and encouragement to family and friends in their journey to financial freedom. She has experience with tax preparation and currently serves as a volunteer tax preparer with AARP for several years.

Jessica Suárez, B.A. in Tourism

Originally from Ecuador, Jessica Suárez has lived in Florida for over twenty years, where she has built a beautiful life with her husband and their three wonderful daughters. She holds a background in Business Administration with a focus on Tourism, reflecting her passion for organization, culture, and meaningful human connection. Her love for languages led her to study German and Italian for several years, and her curiosity for the world continues to grow through her deep interest in science, geography, art, and nutrition. Jessica approaches each subject with creativity and joy, always seeking to inspire others to learn and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation. Her Christian faith is the foundation of her life, guiding her to live with purpose, gratitude, and grace in everything she does. “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Anthony Cota, B.A. in Journalism
Personal Finance
Mr. Cota was born and raised in the great state of Florida. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Journalism. Mr. Cota has taught Personal Finance Literacy at Libertas. Anthony believes that spending just 10 minutes with the Lord each day in “the classroom of silence” can transform your life in unimaginable ways. While he works in sales for a global spirits and wine producer, his greatest joy is spending time with his family. If he could be anywhere in the world, he’d be enjoying a café in one of Italy’s famous piazzas, followed by a stroll to take in the country’s rich art, culture, and cathedrals. If staying in the U.S., he’d choose a week at the beach, building sandcastles and body surfing with his family. His Master said to him, "Well done my good and faithful servant, you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master." Matthew 25:21

Wilfred Ngwa, Ph.D. in Physics
Physics
Dr. Ngwa, is a university professor in physics and medical physics, and has taught at multiple universities including Harvard, University of Massachusetts, University of Central Florida, and Florida Polytechnic University. He has held guest professorships at University of Pennsylvania and University of Heidelberg in Germany and is an award winning cancer researcher. He believes scientific research provides opportunities to discover more about the wonders of God’s creation and His infinite knowledge. Wil is passionate about global health and works to increase access to global health care, research, and education. Wil has co-tutored Libertas students in physical science, and physics and enjoys serving as a guest tutor for science classes.
